How Riverside got its users
Sponsoring the podcasters who record with the tool. The medium is the demo.
Read from signals. Consistent with what is publicly observable, but nobody confirmed it. Check before you quote it.
You could start this on Monday. No budget, no audience, no permission needed.
- Social proof you could never manufacture yourself
- A creative library for paid advertising
- A product you can demonstrate on screen
- A sourcing and contracting process
- Budget, or a product desirable enough to get it free
Creators and UGC in 2026
The most effective channel in consumer mobile today, and the most saturated at the top end.
Everything on this channel →The play
5 steps, in the order they ran them.
- 1
Put the apply form where your users already are. Riverside's creator-partnerships page is an inbound pitch box: the creator ticks podcast integration, YouTube video, social content, or "other, submit your proposal", and writes their own angle. The entry rule is one line, be a real user. You read proposals instead of paying a scout, and every applicant has already recorded an episode inside the thing they are about to sell.
done whenTen pitches in, check whether the names appear in your own user database. If most applicants have never opened the product, you built a sponsorship inbox, not a creator program.
- 2
Make the format the episode itself, not a separate ad shoot. The creator records the sponsor read inside the studio the read is about, then builds the ad break in the same editor with a logo image as B-roll. The claim the host makes on air is one only your product earns: every speaker on a separate local track, not down a call. If your tool cannot show itself inside the creator's normal workflow, pick another channel.
done whenWatch one creator use your product on camera with the sound off. If a stranger cannot tell what is different, there is no demo in the medium and you are buying a normal ad.
- 3
Hand a preset, not a brief. Riverside's Magic Clips saves ratio, layout, branding and clip length as one reusable preset, so ship yours: a 9:16 preset carrying your caption style, plus an intro and outro overlay. The affiliate side adds banners and pre-written posts and emails. The creator should publish without opening a design tool, because whatever they build alone is the version that looks off-brand.
done whenGive your preset to one creator and watch them publish. If they ask you a question or open a design tool, the kit is unfinished and every later creator will improvise.
- 4
Pay a cut before you pay cash. Riverside's free tier stamps its watermark on every export, so the audience has already seen the brand before anyone clicks a link. The affiliate program then runs on PartnerStack with no follower minimum, one referral link per creator, a dashboard and monthly payouts on the subscription. Keep flat fees for the few whose first affiliate month proves their audience actually buys.
done whenBy the second month, at least one affiliate has produced a paid subscription, not just clicks. Clicks with no conversion means the offer is wrong, not the creators.
- 5
Recruit from the article your creators already search for. Riverside's blog publishes a roundup of affiliate programs for podcasters and puts its own first, so the person googling how to make money podcasting lands on the recruiting offer. Write that guide for your own category, list your program in it, and the partnerships page stops needing traffic of its own.
done whenApplications arrive in a week where you sent no DMs. If every creator still has to be chased one by one, your guide is not the front door yet.
