How Senja got its users
Testimonial walls displayed on customer sites carry the brand and are seen by all of their visitors.
Read from signals. Consistent with what is publicly observable, but nobody confirmed it. Check before you quote it.
You could start this on Monday. No budget, no audience, no permission needed.
- An acquisition cost that trends toward zero
- Growth that survives you cutting the budget
- A moment where the user has a selfish reason to share
- Zero friction for the recipient
- A product that is multiplayer by nature

The best channel when it exists. But it is decided in product design, not in marketing.
Everything on this channel →The play
5 steps, in the order they ran them.
- 1
Turn the ask into a hosted page, not an email reply. Senja does not collect testimonials in a thread: it hands the seller a link (love.senja.io/r/1TK4xs) that opens a page reading "Share a testimonial. Introduce yourself and share an endorsement for Senja. Record a video." No account, no download, the camera runs in the browser tab. Find the one moment your product makes a user ask a non-user for something (a request, an approval, a file, a signature, a proof) and move it off email onto a page you render.
done whenList the last 20 times a user of your product had to ask a non-user for something. Count how many of those happened on a page you render rather than in a mail client. If the count is zero, you have no surface to put a mark on yet.
- 2
Put one line in the footer of every hosted surface, and tag each surface apart. Senja's form footer links to senja.io/?utm_medium=powered_by&utm_source=form-v2&utm_content=welcome_page. The identical line on a public Wall of Love links to the same site with utm_source=wall_of_love and utm_content=noir, or utm_content=whimsical on another template. One medium bucket for all product-led traffic, one source per surface, one content value per visual template, so the template that converts is a number and not a guess.
done whenOpen your analytics and answer two questions about your last 10 signups: which surface sent them, and which visual variant of that surface. If you can answer neither, your mark is a link with no tag on it.
- 3
Cap the input on the free tier, never the output. Free Senja is "Collect 15 video and text testimonials", but the same plan gives "Unlimited testimonial widgets" and "Unlimited Walls of Love". The stuff strangers see is never rate-limited. What the $29 Starter plan sells first is "Replace Senja's branding with your own" plus "Custom Domains: use your own domain for your forms and Walls of Love". The mark is the rent on the free plan, and removing it is the first thing worth paying to escape.
done whenRead your own free plan limits one by one. Any limit that reduces how many strangers see your output is a bill you are paying yourself. Move every cap onto something only the account holder feels.
- 4
Make the marked embed do a job on the user's own homepage. Free accounts get 20+ widget templates to "add to your website without code" and "Widget analytics: know how many views and clicks your widgets and Walls of Love get", so the embed earns its spot above the fold instead of being decoration a user strips out. Free accounts also get a hosted Wall of Love on senja.io/p/{slug}/{id} where they "Add a CTA and share", which quietly makes your domain their landing page.
done whenAsk whether a user would delete your stamped element if a one-click toggle removed it today. If the honest answer is yes, it is decoration and it will not survive their next redesign.
- 5
Prompt the person who just handed you content to publish it themselves. Senja's "Word of Mouth" toggle adds a one-click share step to X right after someone submits a testimonial, and every individual testimonial gets its own public link where the seller can add a call to action. The submitter has just written something flattering, which is the highest-intent second they will ever have for posting it to their own followers.
done whenFind the screen where a user has just finished making something they are proud of. Check what that screen currently says. If it says thanks and nothing else, you are leaving the publish step on the table.
